ABOUT THE CLASSICAL LAB
The Take Wing And Soar Classical Lab Reading Series was inaugurated in our 2004 Season. It was designed specifically to serve all of our constituencies; with special attention and emphasis on providing center stage opportunities showcasing the talent of classically trained actors of color.
Last year this special project served approximately 50 actors and we are

MEDEA
Written By Euripides
Directed By Petronia Paley
The National Black Theatre
2031 Fifth Avenue @ 125th Street
Harlem New York
Medea tells the story of the jealousy and revenge of a woman betrayed by her husband. She has left home and family for Jason's sake, and he, after
she has borne him children, forsakes her, and betroths himself to the daughter of Creon, ruler of Corinth.
In this masterly written drama of passion;
suffering and sensitiveness of injured love are
strongly drawn, until they culminate in the
awful deed of vengeance. Medea is
criminal, but not without cause, and
not without strength and dignity.
