COMPANY HISTORY

Take Wing And Soar Productions, Inc. now celebrating its 5th Year Landmark Season was founded in 1999 by classically trained actress Debra Ann Byrd.

Led by incorporation attorney, Jenny J. Sherman, Esq., Take Wing And Soar Productions, Inc. was incorporated in 2003 by founding board members Debra Ann Byrd, Andrea Ghersetich, Flora Gillard, Yvette Reed and JoVon Seymore.

In its brief history, Take Wing And Soar Productions' projects and programs have served over 200 Classically trained artists, directors, designers, technicians and young entrepreneurial artists.

The theatre production company was recently nominated for 10 AUDELCO Recognition Awards [The VIV] for Excellence in Black Theater. Take Wing And Soar Productions won two 2007 Vivian Robinson AUDELCO Awards for BEST SOUND DESIGN [David Wright] and BEST COSTUME DESIGN [Ali Turns] for its mainstage production of HAMLET.

MEDEA is TWAS' sixteenth production and fourth main stage project. Thanks to the generosity and support of Dr. Barbara Ann Teer, Take Wing And Soar Productions has been a professional theatre arts corporation in residence at the National Black Theatre for the past five years. The National Black Theatre, now celebrating its 40th year, has hosted TWAS Inc. since its inception; for this we are truly grateful.
